One of the hotels I stayed in Jakarta for a work trip was Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta. I could’ve stayed in a more expensive and comfortable hotel, but I chose to stay at Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta. The photos of the hotel caught my attention when I saw them online. Upon arriving there, I noticed the hotel looked just like how they’re portrayed in the photos.
Overall, I had a good experience staying at Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta. Keep reading as I share my two cents of my stay at the hotel.

Getting to Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta
Pop! Hotel Kemang is located in South Jakarta. Due to its popularity, most taxi drivers would know where the hotel is.
The hotel is a popular choice amongst travellers due to its strategic location. I noticed contradicting information regarding the distance between the hotel and the local airports, so you may want to refer to Google for more accurate details.
Below are details of the distance from local airports:
- Soekarno-Hatta International Airport: up to 35 km by car
- Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport: about 12 km by car.
It took me over an hour to get to the hotel from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. I advise travellers to leave the hotel early if they have a flight to catch, especially during peak hours.
Tip: Taxis queuing outside of the airport are usually cheaper than the ones from the taxi counters. You may want to consider the Blue Bird Taxi Company.
My Experience at Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta
I found Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta through Traveloka, one of Indonesia’s most popular hotel and flight booking apps. The hotel rate seemed affordable, so I booked the hotel’s single non-smoking room for an entire week.
Today, I still think the price of a night’s stay at the hotel is reasonable, considering the value it offers. And to this day, I still wonder where the hotel got its name. If you know the answer, please let me know.
As discussed, Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta is suitable for different types of travellers. It has a nice atmosphere, and I found the hotel staff friendly, helpful, hardworking, and hospitable. To me, customer service is very important, so I have to say that every rupiah I spent for the hotel was worth it.
Check-In Deposit Is Required
Upon check-in, guests must pay a deposit refundable upon check-out. I paid 50,000 rupiah then, and the hotel gave me a receipt afterwards.
Reminder: Keep the receipt until the check-out day. Otherwise, you might not get your deposit back.
Decent Room With Good Amenities
I got room 905. It was clean and had everything I needed, except a working table. I suppose that was the only downside.
But I didn’t mind. I didn’t work on my laptop much in the hotel, anyway.
I enjoyed the service at the hotel. The hotel continued to give guests all the assistance they needed, even at night. The hotel would play trending songs on the radio every day – even at night.
The Hotel Offers WiFi
Guests can enjoy free WiFi in their rooms or the hotel lobby. The Internet speed was alright. Neither was it good nor bad. It was good enough to watch YouTube videos, browse social media, and google information.
Breakfast Is Simple But Good
I enjoyed the breakfast even though there weren’t many choices. Breakfast was available from 7.00 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. All food is halal, and most of the food served is Asian.
Some Guests Might Find the Bathroom Too Small
One of the things I remember about my hotel room most was the bathroom. I thought it was quirky. The bathroom looked like a capsule. It was spacious, but I had enough room to do whatever I needed in it.
However, one colleague told me she didn’t like the bathroom. She thought it was too claustrophobic for her. The next day, she moved to a different hotel. The size of the bathroom is something to keep in mind if you dislike tight spaces.
Would I Stay at Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta Again?
I would absolutely stay at Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta again. It was one of the best budget hotels I found in south Jakarta. Whenever you travel to Kemang, consider staying at Pop! Hotel Kemang Jakarta.
