After returning from a business trip, all I needed was a good rest. I wanted to go somewhere nice and quiet to relax.
So, I booked a room at the One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It’s a 5-star hotel that offers high-quality service and hospitality. When I found a good deal for the hotel, I decided to spend a night at the hotel.

Getting There
The hotel is only 7.94 km away from Subang Airport (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah). Depending on traffic, it can take an hour (or more) to get there from KLIA1 or KLIA2. For those travelling from KL Sentral, the journey may take about 20 minutes by car or more, depending on traffic.
Fortunately, travelling to the hotel from KL Sentral via train is easy. Take the MRT from KL Sentral to the Bandar Utama station. You can access the hotel from the station through the One Utama Shopping Mall.
My Hotel Booking Experience
I booked my hotel using the Traveloka App. The hotel rooms at One World Hotel usually cost more than RM400/night. But if you book a room using the Traveloka App, you can get the Traveloka member deal rate.
At that time, the hotel room was priced at only RM380. I managed to get it for cheaper using my Traveloka coupon code. So, I only paid RM310.
However, I was a little disappointed that access to the hotel’s WiFi wasn’t included. But there’s a twist to the story, so keep reading!
My Experience at One World Hotel, PJ
The whole experience wasn’t bad. I tried to enjoy myself as much as I could. It was such a shame that the swimming pool was temporarily closed.
The receptionist was friendly. I was surprised when he told me there was WiFi in the room because it was clearly stated on my hotel voucher that WiFi was not included. Awesome!
Beautiful Twin Superior Room
I loved my Twin Superior room. It was big enough for two people and had two comfortable beds. So, I invited my friend Gaby to join me. As for the bathroom, it was clean and spacious. The bathroom had a nice bathtub and a sliding door, but I wasn’t sure how to lock it. Mirrors, on the other hand, were everywhere in the bathroom.
50-Inch LCD TV With Satellite Channels
Everything in my room was neatly organised. Fruits were also provided for dessert. Although the hotel room had a big TV, it didn’t have many channels at the time. Gaby and I spent most of our time watching CNN. There was also calming instrumental music automatically playing on the TV.
Good Nightlife (With Live Band Performance)
At night, Gaby and I went to the Sphere Lounge to join a Welsh friend who worked for the hotel then. We had some beers, a bottle of red wine, and a whisky. It was also where we had our afternoon tea earlier.
The Sphere is a perfect spot for social gatherings and casual business meetings. I really loved its modern interior design and cosy atmosphere. Lovely! We enjoyed the live band that performed that night. The staff was also helpful and friendly.
Fancy Spa
The spa and massage centre was on the 5th floor. I checked the service prices but decided they were out of my budget. I also didn’t think getting a massage there was necessary because the One Utama Shopping Mall was just next door. I could simply walk to the mall and get a massage for a more affordable price.
Decent Breakfast
Gaby and I had our breakfast at the Cinnamon Coffee House. There were many delicious dishes offered. I didn’t eat much, though. Overall, I thought the breakfast buffet was alright. Not bad.
Hotel Service Could Be Better
The hotel’s common restrooms are clean and spacious. But I had an unforgettable experience there.
So, I entered an individual restroom occupied by someone else earlier. I noticed the floor was wet and flooded. Whoa, that’s definitely not common (and usually unacceptable) in luxurious hotels. I still went in and did what I needed to do.
After coming out of the restroom, the restroom attendant looked angry. She was very upset because the restroom was slightly wet and flooded. She grumbled as she wiped and cleaned the floor. It felt very awkward. It wasn’t me who caused the flooding.
Also, one of the staff saw Gaby and me but didn’t bother to greet us. A smile would’ve been nice.
Would I Stay at One World Hotel Again?
Overall, I had a good experience at the One World Hotel. I still enjoyed my time there, although the service could be better, considering that it’s a 5-star hotel.
Would I stay there again? Maybe. I’d consider staying there again if I could share the cost with a group of friends. From my experience, I’m sceptical about spending a couple of hundred ringgit for a night there. But a shared staycation with a few friends would be nice.
Of course, when I get the chance to spend a night there again, I would like to jump into the pool, which I never get enjoy!
If I had to rate my level of satisfaction, it would be 4 out of 5. Do I recommend this hotel? Yes, especially for business travellers. The hotel is beautiful, and the location is strategic. And what makes it better is the easy access via public transportation and the nearby shopping centres.
