While many recognise MAEPS (Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang) for its annual MAHA (Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-tourism Exhibition), not many know about Nafas Cube. So what is Nafas Cube?
Nafas Cube is a family-friendly accommodation at MAEPS, Serdang, which offers guests camping sites, culverts, and cabins to spend the night. Guests can stay at Nafas Cube for as low as RM50. Many Malaysians come here with their friends and families, especially on weekends.
Keep reading as I discuss Nafas Cube in more detail. I’ll also share my experience at the site.
About Nafas Cube
Nafas Cube is a local accommodation in MAEPS, Serdang. Here, guests can spend the night in a cabin, culvert, or tent.
Pitching a tent yourself is the cheapest option (RM50), followed by staying in a small culvert (RM100), and sleeping in a cabin being the most expensive. Those travelling with their families often opt for cabins.
There’s a surau at the site, which is convenient for Muslims to do their prayers.
Things to do at Nafas Cube
BBQ and fishing are common activities at Nafas Cube. But it’s also common for people to explore MAEPS and its attractions, such as visiting G2G Animal Garden to riding a horse. Cycling, jogging, fishing, and orbing are also common activities in the area.
On Saturdays, people can visit MAEPS to buy fresh produce and agro-products at one of the biggest markets in Malaysia, known as ‘Pasar Tani’.
Getting to Nafas Cube
You can find Nafas Cube by making your way to MAEPS first, as the accommodation is located within site. The easiest way to get to Nafas Cube is to drive a car – you can park your car overnight later at the parking space provided.
Otherwise, you could take the KTM from KL Sentral to Serdang. Take a taxi or ride service (such as Grab or AirAsia ride) from the Serdang KTM. You’ll see a bus stop as soon as you exit the train station. A pedestrian bridge by the roadside connects you to the opposite side. Cross the bridge and get your ride from the bus stop below.
Another option is to take the ERL from KL Sentral (or any station within the line to Putrajaya). Stop at the Putrajaya station. Then, take a taxi to Nafas Cube.
Staying at Nafas Cube, MAEPS Serdang
I had a good experience staying at Nafas Cube with friends. We arrived in the evening, just in time for the sunset. Since we travelled by car, we had the car parked at the parking lot overnight. The parking lot was close to the campsite, making it convenient for us to carry our stuff.
There were four of us. I shared a culvert with my friend Joey while my friends Jess and Johnny stayed in the tent they brought from home. The culvert had complimentary water bottles and towels.
Convenient BBQ and Sleeping Arrangements
Our culvert and tent were just next to each other, so it was convenient for us to hang out during the night. Just in front of our accommodation was a beautiful lake where we could watch the sunset.
In between our accommodation was a spacious sitting area where we could BBQ. There’s a tap just outside the sitting area.
Decent Bathrooms and Toilets
There’s no bathroom in the culvert (it’s tiny!), but public bathrooms and toilets are available nearby.
I thought the bathrooms were okay, although they could’ve been better in terms of cleanliness. Since the site wasn’t crowded, I didn’t have to wait to use the bathrooms and toilets.
The site doesn’t provide shower soap or shampoo, so guests should bring their own. I suggest bringing a toiletry bag with a hook to hang your stuff when you’re in the shower.
Generally Quiet and Peaceful
Sleeping at Nafas Cube was a good experience. Most people slept early, and no one was making noisy parties at the time. My friends and I stayed up until about 4 a.m. Since the site was so quiet, we tried to keep our voices down. Since it was so quiet, we could hear people snoring when passing by the tents nearby.
Comfortable Culvert
As mentioned earlier, I shared a culvert with my friend Joey. The culvert is tiny, but overall, we slept well in it. The bed was comfortable. There were ants in the culvert. So, if you plan to spend a night in one, be sure to keep whatever food you have in a properly sealed container. Our culvert had a well-serviced air-conditioner. Without it, the culvert would’ve been stuffy.
Delicious Pineapple Ice-Cream
Before leaving Nafas Cube, don’t forget to stop by the ice cream shop at the site’s entrance. The pineapple ice cream there is very delicious and cheap – just under RM5. We enjoyed ours very much.
Would I Return to Nafas Cube?
I would return to Nafas Cube if I had the chance and highly recommend it to people looking to unwind and get in touch with nature. Anyone could use that tranquillity now and then.
The sunset at the lake is beautiful. Since MAEPS is a huge area, there’s plenty of space for everyone to jog and exercise. Of course, I want to eat that delicious pineapple ice cream again.
